BUILDING A PROFITABLE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTING BUSINESS DEPENDS ON
TIMELY INFORMATION
Times are tough and not over yet. The question is, are you and your construction
business surviving or thriving in these unchartered fianancial times? To those who have been reading my
irregular emails, will acknowledge that I did give everyone fair warning these hard times were coming up fast
on the horizon. Some listened and others didn't. I can only hope you were one of the ones who did.
Many contractors and sub-contractors in the construction industry have mortgaged their
homes to finance their trade businesses. If you are one of them and now face increased mortgage payments, a
slow-down in work and less profit in each job due to higher competition, I think we both agree you have a
problem.
The other problem is that you are not alone. There are many other businesses in your
trade and in your local area all chasing the same work. So, what do you need to do?
You need a competitive edge!
Competitive edges come in various forms and guises but all are based on information.
Knowing about them first and actually using them is the real competitive edge.
I hear you say, “Yeah, right” so how can I work and get all this needed information to
give me this ‘competitive edge’?
It may surprise you to know that there are genuine people waiting to help you
if you are prepared to abandon your cynicism and negativity and “do” something different to “the way it’s
always been done”
The whole financial world is now in unchartered waters. Economists can’t agree on what
really caused this global financial meltdown or what will fix it. And to date there are many who simply want
to carry on where they left off!
Many people are analyzing and debating ways and means of fixing our respective
economies but it is up to each of us individually to help ourselves to fix our own
trade businesses and assist our communities to survive, rebuild and recover.
As Barrack Obama said “Yes we can!”
